Rust preventives have been formulated for various specific applications and offer following advantages:

• They are non-staining
• They are compatible with lubricating oils and hence the surface film need not be removed
• They are easily applied by brush, spray or swab
• They are easily removed by solvent
• Offer wide coverage & therefore economical

These products are free flowing liquids consisting of film forming agents, rust inhibitors, water displacing additives and lubricant base stock, carried by a solvent. On evaporation of solvent, a thin, soft film is obtained. Upon application, these products displace all traces of moisture from the surface.

Rust and corrosion are factors of major economic importance costing industry and consumer’s abnormal expenses. This unwanted expenditure can be curtailed/eliminated markedly through the use of petroleum based temporary rust and corrosion preventives.

Various protective measures like alloying, plating, painting, etc. are used by the engineering industry to prevent metals from the effects of corrosion. While the measures indicated above are of a permanent / semi-permanent nature, petroleum based rust preventives find wide application for temporary corrosion protection during storage and transportation.

Rustop grades have been selectively formulated for various applications and offer the following advantages.

Vacuum Pump Oil is a premium lubricant, blended from specific high quality mineral oil with low volatility characteristics, for the lubrication of vacuum pumps. 

Vacuum Pump Oil has a high degree of chemical stability enabling it to resist oxidation and the subsequent formation of sludge and deposits, an essential characteristic in all cases where continuous service is involved. This enables the oil to retain its original properties such as viscosity and demulsibility and so prolong oil service life.  

Water vapour is a common contaminant in vacuum systems and tends to condense in pumps, oils separators and reservoirs. Vacuum Pump Oil has good demulsibility to separate readily from water. This aids water removal and prevents its return to metal surfaces to cause rust and corrosion.

Applications

The oil is especially formulated for use in vacuum pumps where it will tolerate exposure to very high vacuums with low levels of evaporation. Mobil Vacuum Pump Oil resists the formation of deposits and maintains its original lubricating properties over a long life. It is a dehydrated oil; therefore, keep containers well sealed to prevent contamination by moisture. 

It is also suitable for use in pump bearings and sealing glands.

Special Features

HP STEEL EP 100 is a specially formulated premium bearing and hydraulic oil to meet the specific requirements in steel plants. It meets extreme pressure and good demulsibility requirements in bearing lubrication.

It is blended from premium quality base stock and selected grades of anti-oxidants, anti-rust, demulsifier, defoamant, anti-rust and mild anti-wear additives. This oil is suitable for use in conditions where very good load bearing ability along with excellent demulsibility characteristics are critical requirements. This product has good wettability and high film strength providing extra rust protection and eliminating scuffing and scoring of the bearing. It has a good water separating ability which is retained at a high level during extended use in water quenching conditions.
